The Basics
Name: Karasu Koyama
Gender: Male
Age: 27
Height: 187.9 cm
Weight: 83.7 kg
Village: Hidden in the Clouds
My Character in Depth
Personality: Reserved, but not shy. Very pragmatic, cruel when angry, but never irrational or unfair. Has a healthy sense of humor, and enjoys cracking jokes. Reliable friend, terrifying enemy.
Appearance: Pale skinned and pale haired, much like the lightning some liken him to. Wears loose clothing with his village's symbol on it, presumably to hide his movements, and to conceal whatever weapons he has on his person. His clothes are all conductive.
History: Born into relative obscurity in the Hidden Cloud Village, very little is known about the young boy who grew into the nebulous figure who now bears the title of Raikage. It is obvious he was given some martial training, stories of a boy matching his odd appearance (for one from the Cloud village) crop up if you ask the right people, and pay the right amount of money. He showed some aptitude, but it always seemed as if he was holding back. As if this young boy displayed the foresight to be afraid of what his powers could bring him. As if he knew what it could become.
No parents or any records of him could be found. Some claimed he was birthed by a midwife in the slums of the city, and then left out to die. This story leads to a dead-end adoption of some sort, under the name Karas Karako, a name that bears striking similarity to the one he bears now. The farthes back he can be traced with any evidence at all is his rise as prodigy of the small Koyama clan. As a young man, during his training as a genin. He was always somewhat competitive with his squadmates, but never to take the glory upon himself. He always played a vital, but secondary role. His entire squad was known as the Silent Flash, as they all were somewhat socially awkward, and rarely conversed with their fellow genin. Always standout for their odd behavior, it was somewhat of a surprise when their squad was chosen as a candidate for the chuunin exams in their village.
During the exam, the squads were split up and set out at different points in the village, and told to fight “to the death.” Unknown to them, Jounin were watching over them, and skillfully using genjutsu and substitution techniques to make it appear as if the candidates were dying. “Death” did not imply failure, they were judged based on their actions and their movements. The Silent Flash chose a very passive role, watching as other, headstrong squads got into quick fast skirmishes. Karasu, priding himself on his pinpoint techniques, would use his natural affinity for Earth and Lightning release to silently attack the vital points of stragglers, disabling them, and taking them down. He was always skeptical of the “fight to the death,” but wasn't one to disobey orders. He and his teammates, Moriyama and Hachiko had worked hard to get here, and none of them was going to back down now.
Eventually, Karasu and his squad remained one of the two left. They hid, watching the streets from vantage points, always in communication via secret signals. Their coordination was to be admired, and from where the other candidates and acceptees watched, they did indeed find themselves envious of their superior tactics. Karasu eventually spotted the enemy squad sneaking as a unit, and attempted to take out the leader with a pinpoint needle. The attack was noticed and evaded, and the chaos broke out. Bolts of electricity arced through the village, and all the spectators were on edge. Karasu easily deflected their counterattacks, and kept the enemy trio busy while Moriyama and Hachiko moved into position.
They launched their most destructive attack. When nobody was watching, the trio had placed seals around the entire central area of the city. The seals lay in a circle circumscribing the area they'd spotted other teams in, and what the last squad was now standing directly in the center ofrapping the entire enemy team in a destructive lightning storm destroying the ground and presumably killing them. The jonin overseeing the exam then revealed that their peers were indeed not dead, lifting a weight from the three genin's minds. They gave Karasu and his companions a pass, and they became chuunin.
After this, the trio went their separate ways, Hachiko becoming a teacher and Moriyama becoming an interrogation jounin. Karasu himself joined the ANBU unit of the village. He became quite the rising star of their special operations unit, succesfully carrying out without any hitches a record series of C, B, and even A ranked missions with ease. Quickly, Karasu found himself as the go-to man for most of the city's missions, leading squads of lower ranked chuunin and jounin on missions, even training specialized jounin in what he soon came to see as menial tasks and disciplines. His incredible ability brought him much praise from his superiors
With such a meteoric rise to prominence, the ninja found himself with his own set of enemies. Envious underlings, and wary superiors. A plot was brewed to get him out of the limelight. Fed false intelligence on an important mission, he ended up killing 35 ANBU personnel from his own village. A war crimes tribunal found him guilty of treason, and no amount of “blame it on the intel” could save him. He didn't let this get past him though, and on his way to prison, he escaped the clutches of the ninja forces and became a missing-nin. He was the most wanted for about 4 years, until they figured he'd either died or had fled for good, to lands unknown. No trace of his whereabouts could be found, he hadn't even sold his talents to another village like they'd expected him to.
Or, maybe he did. Using ingenious genjutsu, intelligence tactics, and a deal with the Hokage of the time, he became part of a Leaf Village squad dedicated to hunting down the tailed beasts. At the time, not that many were sealed, imprisoned, or had their own jinchuuriki. This squad was dedicated to chasing reports for their validity, and, preferably, capturing them for the Leaf Village's own gain. One day, when he was working with his newfound squadmates, they received a report that Chomei, the Seven-Tailed beast, had been spotted out in the wilderness. For the first time, this report turned out to be true. The jonin mobilized, and attempting to seal the beast with fuinjutsu, failed. They were all killed, all but Karasu. The beast stood over him, at Karasu's weakest, looked into his eyes, and then disappeared. It began to rain then, and Karasu stood immobilized in wonder and fear.
After this, he made his 2nd disappearance. His experience had shocked him, and he went to meditate on this. He found a tall mountain populated with rhinoceros beetles in the hundreds. He meditated there for nearly 4 years straight, the beetles taking to him and bringing him insects for sustenance. For years, plants grew over him, and he became as much a fixture in the landscape as the trees around him. He became as one with the energy of the world around him, and it became one with him. The collective unconscious of the world drew from him, and he learned from it. He learned of their lessons, of their own view on the world, and their daily lives. He may nearly have merged with the land itself, had one incident not occurred. As he lay meditating, one day, for the first time in 5 years, he heard a sound that was not at one with the environment.
Working muscles that had not been moved in years, he opened his eyes. There, in front of him, was Chomei, the beast that had slain his former comrades, and inexplicably spared him. He realized it had chosen him, and wanted him to prove himself at the prime of his power. Entering the special sage mode, his muscles easily recovered from disuse. His sage mode manifested as insectoid wings of chakra, and a hardened armor of energy around his body that protected him from even the strongest blows, and imbued him with the inexplicable strength of the rhinoceros beetle. He battled the beast for 3 days and nights straight, before catching it with the same trick he'd proven himself worthy to be a chuunin with. He'd been slowly planting seals across the forest in the dark mud of the forest floor. He captured the beast, and sealed it within the scroll that he and his squad had intended to seal it within, and that he'd bore as a cross since the day all of his friends had died.
He knew what to do now. He returned to his village, a pariah, thought dead. A ragged man, covered in dirt and with very threadbare clothes, but he stood with a grace and majesty that none could match. Now 27 years old, he found his village in chaos. The Raikage had been assassinated. Demanding the title, he easily fought off all challengers, and claimed it for himself.

Techniques
Ninjutsu
- Ob Zen - A staple technique that Karasu uses, where he energizes a Senbon needle with his thunder release, and throws it. On impact, it can release a shock, which is capable of local paralysis, if it connects properly.
- Flourish - Karasu can wield his Lightning Release as a whip. This whip can cut through and shatter objects, and it can cause electrical burns on contact with skin, or even rend the skin of the weak
- Mjolnir - Energizing his fist or foot with Chakra, when Karasu strikes a blow, the energy explodes in a manner that can cause great trauma.
- Ride the Lightning - Using Magnet release, Karasu can manipulate the magnetic polarity of the air around him, and can use this to fly.
- Koloss - Using Earth Release, Karasu can animate golems of dirt. These can be small, light beings of clay used as scouts, or heavy juggernauts of metal.
- Iron Maiden - Karasu can use his Earth Release to summon a prison of metal around his opponent, trapping those unable to escape the jutsu.
- Chthonian - Some believe lightning only comes down. Lightning can ascend from the ground to the sky, if the ground attains a negative charge and the clouds a positive one. Karasu utilizes this principle to make giant thunderbolts erupt from the ground underneath his foes.
- Cataclysm - Karasu jumps high into the air, and lands on the ground near his opponent. Using his Earth Release, he creates an arena encircling his opponent, trapping them in close combat with him. These walls are made of large spikes of rock, and can be nearly 30 feet high, and 5-10 feet thick.
- Thunder Call - Karasu releases a thunderclap from his mouth as a yell. This can knock back enemies, and releases enough electrical energy that those caught in the shockwave can be electrified.
- Form of Lightning - Karasu energizes his body with chakra, and appears to be made of electric energy. He can move incredibly fast in this form, and enemies he comes in contact with will receive damage.
- Exosphere - With his Earth Release, Karasu can cause formations of rock and earth to emerge from the ground. For example, he can cause boulders to emerge from the ground to obstruct techniques/attacks, or cause the ground underneath his opponent to rise, to disrupt their activities.
- A Tale from the Deep Woods - Karasu can greatly accelerate his healing by channeling his chakra into wounds. The rate of healing accelerates exponentially with respect to time, short term healing only affects minor wounds, although a few hours can heal a broken bone and longer periods of time can heal more serious wounds. If the wound is severe, this jutsu might put Karasu into a coma until his recovery is done.
- Magnetize - Karasu can utilize his Magnet Release to magnetize metal objects, run currents through non-metal objects, creating magnetic fields around them, and create magnetic fields in open space. He can use this to magnetize both his body and his opponents, either repelling or attracting them to him. He can also use this as a kind of armor, using the field to slow down incoming physical attacks and projectiles.
- Thunder Collapsing Destroyer - An S-Rank, signature attack of Karasu's. He channels large amounts of Chakra into his hand, and can release it in many ways. He can shoot powerful, highly destructive, massive thunderbolts from his hand, or he can release it as ball-lightning. The second method is where the attack gets its name, It is said that he could level mountains with the attack if he wanted to.
Genjutsu
- Revenant - Karasu can obscure his appearance by mimicking the environment. He will appear invisible to shinobi incapable of seeing through the genjutsu
- Illusive Might- Karasu creates illusions of himself that attack the opponent. The clones can attack the opponent, and Karasu can originate jutsu from them, making them appear as if they're the real Karasu. They do not hold up against strong attacks, and can easily be dispelled.
- Resonance - Karasu can create elaborate illusions of sound. For example, he can make his voice appear to come from somewhere else, or simulate the noises of someone following his target. The sound does not actually come from those places, it is an illusion. If the genjutsu is broken, it will fail and they will be able to accurately hear where Karasu's voice is coming from
- Trapped in a Hellish Dream - Karasu uses Genjutsu to imprison his foe in an illusionary world where all is blackness. He can make images of himself and others appear to the ensnared opponent, and he can attack them unseen.
- Impasse - This technique creates invisible walls, which are impassable to those who cannot break the genjutsu.
Taijutsu - Karasu's hand-to-hand fighting style is best described as the unholy child of Krav Maga and Sambo, a very pragmatic way of fighting that focuses on heavy damage as fast as possible. The grace inherent in his fighting comes from his ability to reduce his opponent to a quivering mess in seconds.
